A few wine and food-related events taking place in Italy over the coming months:
‘Taste’ When: 11-13th March 2017 Where: Stazione Leopolda, Florence. What: an Italian fair dedicated to good eating and good living and frequented by leading lights in the international gastronomic and catering trades as well as an increasingly growing public of passionate foodies. Taste is now in its 12th year and the ‘off-schedule’ events known as ‘Fuori di Taste’ take the theme beyond the fair and extends it throughout the city, creating a long weekend of exquisite taste-bud tantalizing and an opportunity to try new food and wine as well as revisit some old favourites. Vinitaly When: 9-12th April 2017 Where: Verona What: This is the largest wine event in Italy by far. The week-long fair in Verona is the main wine trade event for Italian wines, though the presence of international labels grows every year. This year will be the 51st edition of the event. Beyond the huge trade fair that has its own vast exhibition space outside Verona (free shuttle buses are provided), the whole of Verona is transformed into a wine-tasting event and the city is packed with merry revellers! ‘God Save the Wine’ When: monthly Where: Florence or elsewhere in Tuscany What: Extremely pleasant food and wine evenings co-organized by sommelier Andrea Gori and the magazine ‘Firenze Spettacolo’. If you are in the area or planning to be, check these out. Each evening presents some 30 wines chosen by Gori, so you rarely encounter the same label each time, and it’s a great way to tour around the country, vinicologically speaking, without leaving the room.
