This rosé, the palest colour of pink, is steeped in finesse and delicacy, yet reveals the unique character and strength of this terroir. It has excellent minerality and an earthy nuance. Notes of raspberries, strawberries and roses. It is an elegant, well-balanced wine. The grapes are picked by hand and the rich, volcanic soil of Etna combined with the altitude above sea-level (700 asl) gives these wines intense character and complexity without the weight that's sometimes associated with Sicilian wines.
Only 3000 bottles produced. It was recently awarded the Best Sicilian Rosé at the Sicilian Wine Awards held in Taormina.
Food: sushi, prawn cocktail, niçoise salad, chunky fishcakes, salmon fillet, duck breast.
Film: Cinema Paradiso, 1995, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, for its love of films, its love story and its Sicilian village setting.
