  • Coda di Volpe literally translates as “foxtail”, because when the grapes are clustered and hanging from their vine, both the colour and shape are like a fox’s brush.
  • Native to Campania in southern Italy, Coda di Volpe has long been sidelined in favour of the more lauded and profitable Fiano, Greco and Falanghina.
  • It is most commonly bottled as a pure varietal wine in the area of Benevento, which is where this bottling comes from. Hand harvested with strict grape selection, it is then soft pressed and macerated (when the grape juice remains in contact with the grape skins) for 8 days. Fermentation is in steel tanks with indigenous yeast only and there is no temperature control except when it exceeds 23°C.
  • The wine is a rich orange colour with some translucent hues; intense aromas evoke notes of rich tropical mature fruit and dried herbs.
  • Certified organic and vegan. Various foods such as winter squash lentil stew or a summery bowl of spaghetti with fresh basil pesto, rustic chunks of Parmesan dribbled with quince would work wonders with this style of wine.
