From the coastal region of Tuscany, a few kilometres inland from Livorno, comes this fruit-friendly crowd pleaser and partner to a white under the same name, ‘Nemorino’. Made up of Syrah with small blends of Sangiovese and Merlot, this is bursting with lively red fruit such as cherry and plum with underlying notes of blueberry and violet hues. The dense clay soils of this coastal region give the Syrah this incredible perfumed aspect along with a luscious concentration of fruit. A perfect introductory wine from Tuscany, well-known for producing fairly complex and demanding wines, this is a far more approachable wine from the outset and can be enjoyed in various settings from the pool-side BBQ to the more formal dinner party. It’s a firm favourite amongst our millennial clientele for having that almost ‘new-world’ fruit component yet still very much ‘old-world’ at heart. We’re sure the label has a part to play in its ever increasing popularity; it is taken from a character called ‘Nemorino’, in an Italian opera aptly named ‘The Elixir of Love’.
